I'm teaching English at the Dalian University of Technology (DUT). Beginning speaking and writing to engineering students. School starts tomorrow. We had our first meeting today with the English department professors. It was very informal and they kicked it off by having us clean our office. When asked about their expectations (we get evaluated at some point during the semester), they shrugged and said something vague about good organization. Sounds like we're being let loose. Luckily we can count on an ESL teaching major, Jim, and our new friend Eric, who already taught in Sichuan for a year, for some help!
The freshmen are in military training for the 1st month of class, so I only teach on Wednesdays and Thursdays until October. 5-day weekends will be fun, but I will need to find something to fill the time. Tomorrow I am taking a placement test for a Chinese class.
Here are some pics of my apartment, which I love.
And the view from out my window. The ocean is right behind that haze.
OMG, your apartment is gorgeous!
