Whirlwind Weekend

The weekend of the 6th, most of the PiAers "in the vicinity" of Beijing celebrated the arrival of our New Jersey-based coordinator to China with a night of too much food, meeting the people we'd heard stories about, and all around good times.

Kim and I took the overnight train in on Friday, arrived Saturday morning, Beijing-ed it up, and booked it back Sunday night to arrive just in time for Monday 8 am classes.  (Or at least, I did - Kim got an extra day in the capital).

Here are some snapshots from the weekend.

For Theora: 硬卧上铺, enough room to do some yoga!

For Dad: Visiting the Temple of Heaven
Tian Tan

For Hanna: The Gar, live at Yugong Yishan, 11/6/2010.  Their quieter, more post-rocky guitar-centered moments were nice, and the rest was bearable since I had earplugs!

An 11-hour ride to spend a day and a half somewhere is not ideal, but actually quite do-able if you're on a sleeper train.  I probably won't be making the trek out to Beijing again any time soon, but it was nice to get out of Dalian.

  1. Marg! So excellent! I am impressed with your huoche contortionism. I haven't been up to much "Fitting in" lately- China would be the place to do it, though.
