Cabbage Season

When the weather gets cold, the thing to do is stock up on your winter supply of cabbage, and store it in your apartment stairwell.  Kim and I are the odd ones out here - we only buy one head of cabbage at a time, and much as we want to fit in, we've been breaking custom and keeping our cabbage in the fridge instead.  Our neighbors are probably wondering if we even eat vegetables at all, since we don't have any stockpiled outside our door.

Near the window is about as cold as the fridge, even on a sunny day.

Leave enough room for people to walk!

Quantity is more important than quality. No expiration date.

As you can see, our neighbors also store plenty of other odds and ends in the stairwell.  No such thing as fire code in China!
