Harry Potter Is Not Real!

Everyone knows who this is, right?

Apparently not.  This morning, I showed my freshman this picture and asked who it was.  The answer?  Harry Potter. Not making this up.  To which I replied, "Harry Potter is not real!" My class witnessed my over-dramatic spasm of disbelief, and they are probably expecting more antics from me in the future.

As a test, I showed it to my sophomores this evening.  Same answer! No antics.  I was prepared.  And so, I proceeded to introduce John Lennon and the Beatles to my class.  We sang "All You Need Is Love" (in retrospect, probably not the best Beatles song to play, because they probably now think all Beatles songs involve horns.  Help me decide what song to play them next!)  We're covering Britain right now (more on that later), so it was a necessary cultural tangent.

  1. Wow! That would have blown me away, too. What about 'Here comes the sun'? I remember singing that as a kid in summer camp, which prompted me to go out and buy Abbey Road.
